The PRP hair rejuvenation procedure uses your own blood to produce platelet-rich plasma to create a serum which is then injected or applied onto the skin of the desired treatment areas. Multiple PRP treatment modalities are used for rejuvenation, including PRP filler enhancements, PRP microneedling procedures, PRP laser resurfacing enhancement, and PRP facials (vampire facials). Other procedures include the O-Shot and the P-Shot. It can also be used in pain relief for both acute and chronic injuries or it can be injected into tissues to help speed up the healing process. In this situation PRP is used to stimulate the hair follicle in order to enhance hair growth and rejuvenation.
PRP rejuvenation can be used on both male and female adults who are looking to stimulate hair growth without extensive surgical procedures having long recovery periods. To determine if the PRP treatment method is appropriate for you, a consultation with our certified and experienced Nurse Practioner is advised.
PRP rejuvenation requires a blood sample which is typically drawn from the arm. This blood sample is then spun in a centrifuge to isolate the plasma, which is then further altered to increase the plasma concentration. This is the PRP serum which can then be applied topically or injected into the scalp with a very fine needle. There is minimal recovery time commonly, which is why PRP rejuvenation is increasing in popularity. As well, this is considered a biologic procedure as it is your own blood products being used.
You may notice immediate results however, long-term results are typically seen over the course of a few weeks to a few months. Some procedures may require multiple treatment sessions to ensure you achieve the desired results and maintain benefits of treatment. Treatment benefits persist for years routinely.
