Fillers/Botox Q&A

Fillers and Botox/Dysport

What are aesthetic injectables?

Aesthetic injectables are treatments administered via injection that aim to enhance your appearance or simply make you look younger. They are split into two main categories: Botox® and dermal fillers.

Botox injections inhibit the muscle movements that cause wrinkles and fine lines to appear on your face. They have other medical uses, too, but their most popular application is wrinkle relief. The results last for three to six months, but you can get them regularly to maintain your new look.

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid or other gel-like substances to add volume to your face or refine your facial contours. They plump your skin for up to a year at a time.

How can aesthetic injectables improve my appearance?

There are many adjustments you can make to your appearance using aesthetic injectables. Since the results are temporary, you can use them as a precursor to future cosmetic surgeries to test new looks.

Your provider at Sakoon The Spa guides you to an appropriate injectable to:

  • Smooth wrinkles and lines
  • Plump your lips
  • Reshape your lips
  • Volumize your cheeks
  • Smooth your chin dimples
  • Improve your facial symmetry
  • Contour your jawline While there are certainly limitations to nonsurgical aesthetic treatments like injectables, many patients prefer their more subtle or temporary results. They also come with fewer risks than comparable surgeries.

What aesthetic injectables are available?

Sakoon The Spa offers many recognizable aesthetic injectable brands. In addition to the classic Botox for wrinkle relief, you and your provider can decide between these fillers, depending on your goals and candidacy:

  • Sculptra®
  • Restylane®
  • Revanesse® VersaTM
  • Juvederm®

Sakoon The Spa is the first to bring Revanesse Versa to Omaha. It’s an affordable filler option that comes with less inflammation and bruising than its competitors.

Another available aesthetic injectable that’s different from the rest is Kybella®. It specializes in reducing your double chin to contour the lower half of your face. The active ingredient kills fat cells in the area.

After a series of Kybella injections, your double chin slowly shrinks as your body absorbs the dead fat cells. Unlike other aesthetic injectables, Kybella’s results are permanent as long as you don’t gain a significant amount of weight later on.

Aesthetic injectables do wonders for your face shape and skin tightness without any incisions. To explore your options further, call Sakoon The Spa.

Botox/Dysport

Botox or Dysport injections are noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles that appear during expression.

Why it's done

Botox and Dysport injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes.

Risks

Botox and Dysport injections are relatively safe when performed by an experienced doctor. Possible side effects and complications include:

  • Pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site
  • Headache or flu-like symptoms
  • Droopy eyelid or cockeyed eyebrows
  • Crooked smile or drooling
  • Eye dryness or excessive tearing

We generally recommend against using Botox or Dysport when you're pregnant or breast-feeding. They should not be used in people who are allergic to cow's milk protein.

Botox and Dysport injections usually begin working one to three days after treatment. Depending on the problem being treated, the effect may last three months or longer. To maintain the effect, you'll need regular follow-up injections.
