Microblading

What is eyebrow microblading?

Eyebrow microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure using a handheld microblading eyebrow pen to draw on strokes of color to mimic the appearance of real brow hairs.

The process is similar to getting a tattoo but the ink that is used is far less concentrated than that of a regular tattoo and is specifically formulated for the microblading process.

Long lashes

Is Microblading right for me?

While there are thousands of eyebrow products on the market, those that tend to opt for microblading want fuller, natural-looking eyebrows but don't want the hassle of filling them in every single morning, or the worry that the pigment won't last all day.

Microblading is contraindicated in pregnant women and other conditions so consultation with our certified technician is advised.

What can I expect?

Microblading can last anywhere from one to three years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, and the products that you use. However, touch-ups are commonly needed about once a year, especially for those with oily skin, as the ink tends to fade and blur faster.

At your microblading appointment, the area of your brow is sanitized and numbed, then eyebrow shape is drawn on in consideration of your face symmetry and age. Our technician will consult with you on the pigment of the ink she will use and together you will decide on the color you desire.

Then, she will proceed to drawing on the strokes using the microblading pen, which can take anywhere from 30-40 minutes, depending on the eyebrow area. After the eyebrows are finished, she applies an aftercare ointment to help healing and a follow-up appointment is scheduled in four to six weeks.

At this appointment, she is able to tweak the final result if needed, In order to prevent blurring or fading your technician will suggest keeping them dry from water and sweat for a week or longer, and to refrain from wiping. She also recommends applying an ointment once a day to speed up healing.

Immediately following the treatment, the brows will be darker and slightly red, but the redness and the pigment will slightly fade in color as the brows heal. Infection is always possible but unlikely if post procedure care is performed as per instructions. We use disposable products to minimize risk.

Brow Lamination

Brow Lamination is a semi-permanent procedure that was designed to give the illusion of fuller, more defined eyebrows.

Brow lamination takes your unruly or thinning brow hair and smoothes it out while also lifting the hair in a more vertical direction. Eyebrow lamination may also be a good fit if you want to keep your brows styled a certain way but are tired of using eyebrow gel every day.

This service is offered with tint or without tint, if you are uncertain of which service to get please feel free to reach out to our brow specialist.

Permanent Makeup

Woman with makeup

If you have faint eyebrows, no eyebrows, or partial eyebrows, a cosmetic tattoo can help. A lip tattoo can reduce "lipstick bleed," and give definition to the lip line. With a colored lip tattoo, lip scars seem to disappear, plus you can kiss lipstick good-bye. After an eyeliner tattoo, you can put away your eye liner pencils for several years.

Difference between microblading and permanent makeup

Permanent makeup can be done on the eyes, lips, and brows. Microblading is solely for eyebrows. Permanent makeup is done using an electrically powered machine very similar to those regular tattoo artists use. Microblading uses a tool that does not require batteries or electricity.

How Permanent Makeup
Is Done

The process is just like getting a tattoo. Our highly skilled and seasoned practitioner applies permanent makeup by using a needle that penetrates your skin and releases pigment.

You and your artist will choose a color, based on your desires and suggestions from the makeup artist. The technician will then use a sterile surgical pen to sketch the area to be tattooed and then put an anesthetic gel on your skin.

makeup

Using a hollow, vibrating needle, the technician will apply the pigment into the top layer of the skin. Each time the needle penetrates the skin, a droplet of pigment is released into the hole the needle makes. You will feel a slight stinging sensation.

After getting permanent makeup, it takes about three weeks for the color to fade to its permanent shade.

At first, the color will likely look dark and shiny. The surrounding tissue will be swollen and red.

You can use a cold compress to reduce swelling and antibiotic ointment to help prevent infection. Strict sun avoidance and use of sunscreens that block the entire ultraviolet light A and B spectrum for several weeks is important to prevent post-inflammatory color changes. Complications are rare but can include infection or allergic reactions to the tattoo dye.

Proper sterilization, techniques, and licensing are key. At Sakoon the Spa we never compromise your safety. Call us or book online for your consultation today!
